PhoenixMiles members can earn mileage by flying CA, Star Alliance or non- Star Alliance partner carriers of CA, as well as by purchasing products or services from participating partners worldwide. Members are able to redeem miles for flight tickets, upgrades, merchandise in the “Phoenix Shopping Mall”, and for flight change fees for reward tickets. PhoenixMiles Platinum & Gold members automatically become Star Alliance‘s Gold Members; and PhoenixMiles Silver Members will be Star Alliance Silver Members. PhoenixMiles Members can enjoy VIP services provided by both CA and Star Alliance. Mileage is valid until 36 months after departure of flights (expires on a monthly basis).

The L fare is the minimum requirement for upgrading to Business Class from Economy Class and the Z fare is the minimum requirement for upgrading to First Class from Business Class. Mileage to redeem flight tickets vary by seasonality on SFO, JFK and LAX to PEK from 25 Sep, 2011 to 30 Jun, 2012.
